CD 14’s Lucy Aparicio, CD 13’s Hector Vega, their respective clean-up teams and the GPNC all joined us to make this event the largest Flash Clean-up ever. Thanks to Marie D’Antonio of the GPNC leading a team of eight. They targeted trash and weeds around the freeway ramps at York Blvd., while the rest of our volunteers worked around the intersection of Verdugo and York. Weeds in the sidewalks and gutters were removed and low growth around many trees was trimmed. A significant amount of trash was removed as well.
We gave the City’s clean-up teams the locations of bulky items we scouted in advance. This allowed those teams to concentrate their time on picking up items. We had thirty two volunteers at the event.
The Parents of Juntos Park, led by Pilar Quispe had twelve people picking up trash in the streets adjacent to Juntos Park. CD 13 and its team supported their clean-up as well. In total about fifty people worked on improving our community. Thanks to all for their hard work to make our community a better place to live.
