Letter from outgoing President

November 13, 2015

Happy November! I would like to thank everyone that attended our annual Glassell Park Improvement Association dinner. Big thanks to Marge, for all you do to make this event a great success. We had our dinner at the Coffee Table in Eagle Rock, another great anniversary it was amazing. Thank you Coffee Table for your hospitality!

As the holiday season is soon approaching, the Northeast Los Angeles area is looking forward to the many events this season. One of the many events that we have in Northeast Los Angeles is the Veteran’s Day Parade this upcoming Veteran’s Day! As part of the Veterans parade committee I would like to invite everyone to join us on our 10th annual Veterans parade. Sunday, November 8, 2015. This year’s route would be from Fire station 55 located at

to the Eagle Rock American Hall Legion Post 276 located at 2109 Merton Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90041. The parade will start at 1 pm to approximately 2:15 pm followed by awards & entertainment at the American Legion Parking Lot beginning at 2:30pm to 4:30pm.

This parade is a great opportunity to either volunteer or go out and have a jubilant time honoring those who have served for our great nation. I would like to thank everyone who has served. I appreciate your sacrifice for our freedom. Thank you to all of our veteran families for their sacrifice for our freedom. As a military wife, I personally know the sacrifice we do to support our men and women on their journey for our country. THANK YOU!

I am excited about our upcoming 8th Annual Glassell Park Tree Lighting Event on December 6, 2015. In the Rite Aid parking lot located at 4044 Eagle Rock Blvd, Los Angeles CA, 90065 from 5pm to 9pm. Every year I coordinate the Glassell Park Tree Lighting event, an amazing event where so many families and community members come together to enjoy performances from our local schools, hot chocolate and cookies as Santa Claus arrives and delivers gifts to the children of the community. I would like to thank some of the organizations and businesses that sponsor this traditional event: Councilmember Gilberto Cedillo and their staff, GPIA, State Farm in Atwater, Anahuak Soccer League, Elliot Megdal and Associates, Rite Aid, Super A Foods, Raul Macias, Art Camarillo, Ruby De Vera, Groom for Less, Relaxation Stations and hopefully more for their donations to make this event happen. The tree lighting festival is sure to be memorable and filled with holiday cheer! We hope to put a big smile on a child’s face at this tree lighting event.

Other than updating you on the upcoming events, I would also like to take the time to thank everyone who has supported me as I have held this position on the Glassell Park Improvement Association. It has been quite a significant year, filled with so many memorable events and passionate people. I am humbled to have served as the President and look forward to the upcoming year and what the year has in store for this organization. As I part from this position, I wish Molly Taylor a happy and healthy year, as it takes a lot of energy and positivity to have any leadership type of role in an organization such as the GPIA. But there is no doubt in my mind that she will be stupendous and will help the organization and residents of Glassell Park to come together. After all, that is the point of this organization: to better Glassell Park and have it be as beautiful as the people who inhabit it. With that being said, I wish the happiest of holidays to you all and a Happy 2016 New Year!
